Video Game: Bioshock January 17, 2008

One of my favorite games from last year. Bioshock. It is not a game on a Nintendo console which makes it strange for me to say it is one of the best but it is. I’ve gotten over my own snobbery when it comes to video games. I still consider Nintendo to be the best company out there but there are other good companies that make good games. Bioshock is one example. I heard a lot about this game before it came but I didn’t get a chance to play it until my roommate got himself an Xbox 360. I played this afterward.
It is a great experience as far as video games go. Great atmosphere and good story line. The water effects are great, amazing. Makes me wish my Nintendo Wii could do those kinds of visuals but alas, Nintendo decided to not go the HD route on this generation. FPSs (First Person Shooters) are not the kind of games I usually play. I find them repetitive because all you do is shoot stuff but I made an exception for this game just because of how everything is put together so well. The only bad thing about the game is that it is too easy. Way too easy. Dying is not really a bad thing. And the game is all about choices too, and I learned something about myself. I couldn’t bring myself to kill little girls, I saved them all. I love the plasmids! Force like powers that allow me to set things on fire, electrocute, and telepathy, those things are just too cool. Love it. What else can I say though, besides being one of the best games ever made? Not much but if you are hardcore gamer, you need to get this. Casuals need not apply.

I’m looking to try this game soon. Before I didn’t hear that it was too easy, which can be a huge flaw in a game but I heard it is creative and always interesting. I’ll have to see, I too have sort of thrown my hands up to FPS lately Halo 3 being such a disappointment, but I just got off playing Prey which was great.
Yeah, Halo was a disappointment. From everything I heard about it I would have thought it was going to be better than Bioshock but I didn’t think it was. Bishock is very creative very interesting. It is easy I believe because when you die, all the damage that you have done doesn’t reset. So you can go on suicide runs against a Big Daddy and take them down that way. The enemies themselves are not easy or anything like that, but death really is not a problem in the game. Fighting Big Daddies is always fun though, they are tough to take down, even if death is not really that bad.
