Well, superhero movie to watch this weekend is Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. The movie is from Mexican director extraordinaire, Guillermo del Toro. I’ve seen the first movie, which I liked but from the looks of it the second film will be better. It certainly looks more imaginative, which is del Toro’s strength. See Pan’s Labyrinth to see what I mean. Here are the trailers.

Original Hellboy trailer for those who need to catch up.

Pan’s Labyrinth. A word of advice if you are one of the people who haven’t seen this film. This film is for adults. I’m not kidding, it is a fantasy (to some extent but not fully) film but it has gore and violence. Realistic gore and violence and the fantasy parts aren’t that friendly either, this is the stuff that might scar kids. Now, with that advice out of the way, go see it, it is a really good film, very original and imaginative. It should have won the Academy Award for best Foreign Film but didn’t because it has fantasy elements and therefore not deemed as good as the other film which won the award, which was a Drama. Also, the trailer doesn’t make the movie justice and the voice-over is HORRIBLE.

Hellboy 2 was fun; for sure that director has an amazing imagination, reminded me a lot of his work in Pan’s Labyrinth
