So, the news story was broken, Obama’s aunt is an undocumented immigrant. Not only that, she is also living in public housing. I believe, as many of my friends who support immigrant right, that this piece of news could have destroyed his campaign had it come out earlier. Why? We aren’t popular right now.

But still, why did it come out this past weekend? According to this news source, it might have been a political move by the McCain campaign or the Bush Administration. I don’t know why anyone within the immigration system would want to release that information without having a political agenda. Just releasing for the sake of releasing doesn’t make sense.

Really though, it shouldn’t matter even though it does. Why shouldn’t it matter? Because the fact that Obama has an undocumented aunt should have no reflection of him. That is the same argument I say in the lines of being Muslim. So, what if he was? Is being Muslim in America a crime? Does that make one ineligible for being president? I thought America was founded in the principle of separation of state and religion. It shouldn’t matter what religion the president follows but should be qualified. President Bush might be a born-Christian but look at him, he has done a TERRIBLE job during his eight years of rule. But that’s my opinion.
